Lighting and Sound has been a huge part of my life every since I was 11. It all started in 2005 when I was assigned Performing Arts Captain in Year 6. In the position I assisted with the Lighting & Sound requirements for the Junior School assemblies and performances. Not long after, I was invited to join the Light & Sound team which was a Co-Curricular activity at school.
Throughout my time with the team, I assisted with many weekly assemblies, term concerts, productions and many other events throughout my time. Below is a breakdown of exactly what I have done and what year I did that in.
2005 – Year 6
- Assisted with many concerts and performance evenings with many of the experience team members.
- Running the Weekly Junior School Assembly.
- Running the End of Terms Junior School Concerts for both Lighting and Sound.
2006 – Year 7
- Assisting with weekly Senior School Assemblies
- Assisting with Concerts
2007 – Year 8
- Assisting with weekly Senior School Assemblies
- Follow Spot Operator for Senior School Production Sweet Charity
2008 – Year 9
- Assisting with weekly Senior School Assemblies
- Stage Manager for Middle School Production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- Lighting Operator and Designer for Year 9 Common Good Performances at an external venue
2009 – Year 10
- Assisting with training team members in aspects of Lighting, Sound and Multimedia.
- Assisting with weekly Senior School Assemblies
- Lighting Operator for Beaconhills Performance at Monash Theatre Festival
- Main Lighting Desk Operator and Designer for Senior School Production Beauty and the Beast
- Assisting with the Technical Operations for Junior, Middle and Senior School Presentation Mornings, Afternoons and Evenings.
2010 – Year 11
- Training team members in aspects of Lighting, Sound and Multimedia.
- Assisting with weekly Senior School Assemblies
- Sound Operator for Theatre Studies 3 & 4 Assessment of Cosi
- Stage Manager for the Senior School Showcase Performance at an External Venue.
- Assisting with the preparation for Junior School Production, The Christmas Carol.
2011 – Year 12
- Training team members in aspects of Lighting, Sound and Multimedia.
- Managing each Weekly Assembly.
- Operated Sound and Multimedia for 8 House Church Services
- Stage Manager for the Senior School Production Guys & Dolls
- Lighting & Sound for Theatre Studies 3 & 4 Assessment of Cosi
- Stage Manager and Theatre Co-Ordinator for Beaconhills Performing Arts Festival
- Stage Manager and Theatre Team Co-Ordinator for Beaconhills Year 9 Common Good Performances
- Sound Desk Operator for GIS Dancing Festival
- Sound Desk Operator and Technical Leader for Year 8 Graduation Evening
Due to my outstanding commitment and dedication in assisting with Performing Arts Events I received three awards. In 2005 I was awarded the Rotary Club Community Service. In 2011, I received School Colours and the Rotary Club Community Service.
